Most Popular EDI Standards
There is no single EDI standard that fits every trading relationship. In practice, the preferred document standard depends on geography, industry conventions, regulatory requirements and the expectations of major customers or suppliers.
This page highlights the best-known standards that companies most often encounter in implementation projects. Each standard also has its own dedicated detail page with a more focused explanation.

North AmericaANSI ASC X12
The dominant transaction standard for retail, logistics, manufacturing and healthcare processes across the North American market.

- EANCOM is strongly associated with retail, distribution and GS1-based commercial processes.

- Tradacoms is an older standard, but it still appears in some UK retail environments.
